Having working windshield wipers is essentially for spring!

As the seasons change, so does the way in which we drive. Additionally, seasons all require different maintenance routines to ensure your vehicle is in good shape for the different weather conditions and road conditions. As we start to see hints of spring around the corner, here are the best ways we suggest you prepare your vehicle for spring driving.

Check In On Your Cooling System

Cooling systems are often overlooked parts of a vehicle. Even though it is suggested to inspect the system twice a year, (on average, as different vehicles require different maintenance schedules) many people brush it off and ignore it. Springtime is the perfect time to inspect the system, as it becomes more important to have a functional system as temperatures will soon increase and engines have a higher risk of overheating. We suggest you check for any leaks or cracks in your vehicle’s radiator and hoses. Then, check the levels of your vehicle’s coolant and antifreeze. It is important to have both fluids be at least half full.

Check On Your Tires

It is important that your tires are prepared for spring roads. If you drove on any wet, icy, or snowy roads in the winter, your tires may have been slightly damaged. Also, if roads were salted because of wet, icy, or snowy conditions, your tires could have been more severely damaged. As the snow clears, it is best to look at the health of your tires and see that there is proper tread still. Rainy conditions are likely to continue into spring, so tires must remain prepared.

Check Your Windshield Wipers

As more rain is ahead with spring, it is essential to have healthy windshield wipers that are ready to wipe away the rain. They are an incredibly important part of maintaining proper road safety.

Check Your A/C

As temperatures warm, having a functional air conditioning system is necessary. Before temperatures get too hot to manage, be sure to check that your A/C is in proper working condition. It is best to get ahead of any issues before the heat would possibly become too unbearable.

Check Your Battery

Car batteries average a lifespan of four to five years. Extreme weather conditions could affect a battery’s life, so after winter and ahead of summer, when cold and heat peak, have inspections done on your battery. Identify any possible issues of the battery and replace it, if necessary, before summer is here.
